Chilli Guide

Welcome to the Chilli Guide - our weekly guide to which players you should be looking to bring into your team and who you should be avoiding. Who decides on the chillis and snowflakes? you may ask. You do - the guide is based on the number of times a player is transferred in and out, by you the Fantasy League Classic managers.

Each week during the season, we'll be providing a run down of the latest players who are a manager's best friend this week, only to be thrown away quicker than a Ronaldo step-over the next.

Chillis :

Deco - - Too Hot To Handle

Brazilian born Portuguese international Deco impressed hugely on his Premier League bow on Saturday, answering any critics who claimed he would not be able to fit into a midfield that already contained Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack. Chelsea's first half display was an awesome exhibition of passing and movement in which Deco was heavily involved. His goal and assist only aided in increasing his popularity amongst Fantasy League Classic managers.

Phil Jagielka - - Sizzling

Everton may not have got off to the greatest of starts, a 3-2 home defeat by Blackburn Rovers, but defender Phil Jagielka finds himself to be a popular acquisition amongst Fantasy League managers. David Moyes' side have a fair few injuries which coupled with an already small squad meant that Jagielka was asked to play in midfield last weekend. Should he be required to fill in there again in the coming weeks, his chances of picking up attacking points are higher which may explain his popularity.

Gabriel Agbonlahor - - Nice & Spicy

Gabriel Agbonlahor wrote himself into Premier League history on Sunday when his 7 minute hat-trick became the second fastest in the league's history. Villa had created enough chances to see off Manchester City but were tied at 1-1 before the England U21 international hit form, netting three times in quick succession, to give Villa the points and push himself to the forefront of Fantasy League Classic manager's minds.

Snowflakes :

Mario Melchiot - - Cold

Dutchman Mario Melchiot may have only scored 25 Fantasy League points last season, but bare in mind that 20 of those were added from January onwards, after the arrival of Steve Bruce, and you can see why Melchiot was a shrewd choice before the season. A 2-1 defeat at Upton Park is hardly the start Fantasy League managers would have wanted but Wigan have a fairly decent run of games coming up, after they host Chelsea this weekend, so Melchiot may not be unpopular for too long.

David James - - Freezing

David James' 31 Fantasy League points last season made him one of the more attractive buys when picking a goalkeeper at the start of the season. However, some shaky defending from the men in front of him in the Community Shield, coupled with a 4-0 hammering at Stamford Bridge have made Fantasy League Classic managers think again about the England stopper. Looking at it another way though, James has already faced Chelsea and have United in the league up next, after those two tough games are out of the way his popularity, and his FL point are sure to rise.

Cesc Fabregas - - Arctic

Cesc Fabregas' hamstring injury forced him out of Arsenal's opening day win over West Bromwich Albion and could see him sidelined for Saturday's trip to Fulham. As a result the Spaniard was not an attractive choice for Fantasy League managers when putting together their teams prior to the season. Once Fabregas returns to action though, expect his popularity to rise rapidly.
